WELCOME TO THE DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMICS

           The Department of Economics at Government College for Men, Kurnool stands as one of the founding pillars of the institution, having been established in 1971 along with the inception of the college. With a legacy spanning over five decades, the department has consistently upheld its commitment to academic excellence, critical inquiry, and social relevance.

           The department functions within a built-up area of 600 square feet (20 × 30), efficiently utilizing its academic space while fostering a collaborative environment. It shares its staff room with sister Arts departments, namely History and Political Science, encouraging interdisciplinary interaction and intellectual exchange among faculty members.

          A key strength of the department lies in its distinguished faculty, comprising experienced and dedicated lecturers who have significantly contributed to shaping generations of students. Their academic guidance, combined with a focus on real-world economic understanding, has enabled students to excel in diverse professional domains.

         The department takes immense pride in its illustrious alumni network. Graduates have gone on to occupy prominent positions across various sectors, including Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs), Vice-Chancellors, Professors, Lecturers, and Teachers. Many have also rendered valuable services in government sectors such as the Police Department, Postal Services, and Revenue Department, reflecting the department’s role in nation-building and public service.
